Papers and Posters

There will be a poster session and a limited oral paper session. The poster and limited oral paper session are open to anyone wishing to submit an abstract.

The 20th EBBW committee will be soliciting abstracts for the workshop. The theme of the workshop is "Approaches to Addressing Bear Management Challenges in eastern North America: Using data to improve bear monitoring efforts & management decisions".


Workshop Proceedings

We encourage the publication of papers and posters in these proceedings. Workshop proceedings will be non-peer reviewed. Final manuscripts that will be published in the proceedings will be due May 4, 2011.


Protocol for Paper and Poster Submissions

  • The call for presentation and poster abstracts showcasing your recent work in bear research and management will be from December 1st, 2010 to January 30th, 2011.
  • All abstracts must be submitted electronically using the form provided below.
  • Your abstract should be no longer than 300 words and should highlight your research objectives, methods, and results.
  • The same form and guidelines will be used for poster and oral abstract submissions with an option to indicate your preference.
  • We have a limited number of presentation slots available. All accepted oral presentations will be held on the morning of May 4th, 2011.
  • If your request for an oral presentation is unsuccessful, you may be offered the opportunity to present a poster.
  • Please read through the following guidelines prior to submitting your abstract. The submission form can be accessed using the link provided at the bottom of the page.

Submission Guidelines:

  1. Presenting author responsibilities: 
    The Presenter must be identified by the person submitting the abstract and will become the primary contact for the abstract following submission. The Presenter is responsible for communicating with the co-authors regarding acceptance of the abstract and any other relevant information
  2. Abstract Format:

Please follow the submission form structure and be sure to include:

  • Abstract presentation format
  • Abstract theme
  • Abstract title
  • Abstract description

Note: abstracts should be no more than 300 words. Do not include figures or tables.

  1. Additional Information:

Preference for presentations will be given to completed studies. 
Accepted abstracts will be provided to conference participants in the conference program along with the contact information of the Presenter.

  1. Oral Presentations:
  • Will be 20 minutes, including questions (i.e. 15 minutes + 5 minutes for questions).
  • Time limits will be strictly enforced. Please practice your talk in advance and heed the guidelines.
  • Details on transferring presentations to workshop coordinators will be provided upon acceptance of oral abstract.
  • Presentations should be provided in Microsoft PowerPoint format.
  1. Poster Presentations:
  • Posters will be displayed throughout the duration of the conference. Details on poster setup will be provided upon acceptance. 
  • Formal poster session will be held on Monday, May 2nd from 7pm to 8pm.
  • At least one author is expected to attend the poster sessions and be available for questions.
  1. Important Deadlines:
  • Abstracts must be submitted no later than midnight January 30th, 2011. Authors will be notified of their acceptance on or before February 15th, 2011 via the contact email address provided.
  • Oral presentations must be uploaded to the presentation computer by 7pm the evening before your presentation
